I would like to reiterate what others have already stated...this is a TOY piano and therefore will NOT sound like a real piano. The sound is much better than other toy pianos out there but it is a chime sound so keep that in mind. I agree that negative reviews about the sound seem as though they are from people that do not understand what a toy piano is. If you want a real piano sound then either get a real piano, or get a keyboard with a quality piano setting.This piano is beautiful, well made and the assembly is very easy. If you need pictures with your instructions then you may find them frustrating or vague but it really is simple. The seat is perfect for my two year old daughter and will still be comfortable for a couple more years I imagine. This is meant for smaller children.I did read a review prior to ordering about the horrible smell of the piano and I do have to agree. I would have docked a star for that alone if not for the amazing customer support I got after it was assembled (I'll get to that in a bit). The packaging material / instructions are REALLY bad so once you get those out of the house it will help a lot but the piano itself still smells very strong. We have had it for 4 days now & I smell it when I come downstairs first thing in the morning. It is extra hot in our house right now so I imagine that will resolve as it cools. I am a little concerned about the off gassing but it gets better every day so again, I imagine it will get better once it cools and we can open the house again.The instructions mentioned that some keys may be dislodged during shipping & offered a limited amount of troubleshooting. The box was pretty battered when it arrived but excellent packaging prevented damage to the piano itself. I called customer service as one key was stuck and would not dislodge. Hayley offered to email me a more detailed troubleshooting guide. During shipping the hammer on one key got stuck against it's sound rod. I was able to free it and everything works great now. I emailed a "thank you" to her & also asked about a replacement allen screw for one piano leg. She responded in less than 5 minutes and put a replacement hardware package in the mail immediately, free of charge.My daughter loves playing her piano and my husband and I love listening to her. Unlike toys with batteries, which we don't have, this is something pleasing to listen to.This was a Christmas gift for my just turned 11 month old who loves, LOVES music. We opened it on Christmas day and the smell was overwhelmingly strong. Smelled like the paint job was just done. It didn't take too long to put together but some of the pre-drilled holes weren't pre-drilled all the way so we had a hard time getting the screws in place in order to tighten them. Once put together though it does look really nice.Once the smell was not as bothersome we let our daughter play with it and she's been obsessed with it all day. I knew what I was getting so I didn't expect it to sound like a true baby grand piano. For those complaining about the tinny sound, you should have read the reviews or even seen a demonstration on YouTube before you bought it.I would have given it a 5 star rating if it wasn't for the smell and the workmanship especially for the price paid. I'm planning on contacting the company to see if we could get replacement legs since we had to improvise a little with the holes and they got cracked. I did google about the paint smell and for those of you wondering, it is non-toxic although it is also made in China for those who don't want China made products in your household.Edit: Contacted their customer service and they were very nice. They are sending out the leg replacement for the piano and an entire new bench. According to the rep, the smell goes away after a few days and is there because they placed them in the packaging very soon after painting instead of letting them dry and air out for a while before doing so. All in all great customer service.,Great investment to start a child with a gift for talent. My granddaughter loves it! The color coded keyboards and song book makes it easy to learn the keys. The future Alicia Keys!It came with a little note that said it would be out of tune, but it would be charming. I didn't expect a child's piano to be completely in tune, I'm not crazy, but that first octave is WAY off. It was painful to hear when we put it together Christmas Eve. The rest wasn't bad. That said, my kid LOVES it. The construction is great, the stool is really nice and sturdy. It's really beautiful.My son bought this for his daughters 6th birthday and she loves it. Trying out tunes and singing along is now her favorite past time. It looks smaller on the picture so we worried that it would be too small but it's a perfect size.I bought this for my grand daughter. It looks like a real piano ....not a toy, although I am very pleased with it overall it sort of has a bit of a tinny soundI have no complaints about the actual instrument itself. It arrived in perfect condition and in a very reasonable time.My first complaint is about the directions for assembly. What needs to be assembled is relatively simple, but there are no diagrams or pictures for assembly, only words. This proved to make it much more confusing than was necessary.My second complaint is that all the phone numbers and the website listed on the instructions are out of order!! (I don't think this is simply because I was trying to contact them from Europe. ) A couple of the holes were badly drilled and I wanted some advice. A good quality toy piano. The top does not raise like a grand piano- but this is probably safer for my child. easy setup . I would rate this as top notch.
